A question of weight
Nowadays, vans are small/light vehicles which, due to their permissible total weight of up to 3.5 tons, may be driven with a Class B driver's license. Not only the vehicles are light, but also the superstructures. The payload of a small van is between about 0.5 and 1.5 tons, although it should be noted that every kilo for the vehicle and body reduces the payload. From 3.5 tons of permissible total mass, a tachograph is mandatory for commercial use, as well as a driver's license class C1 (up to 7.5 tons) or C (more than 7.5 tons of permissible total mass).
Super performance in "compact format"
Edscha TS is the market leader and innovator in the field of future-oriented tarpaulin cover systems for all trucks. For example, Edscha TS offers high-performance tarpaulin systems not only for the big "Brummis", but also for the smaller members of the truck family. Example: Edscha TS - Compact. With this new product line, Edscha TS has responded to the market's demand for tailor-made, reliable soft top solutions also for smaller vehicle bodies (up to 8m in length). Compact is based on a new, slim, extremely lightweight yet torsionally rigid aluminum profile in combination with the, in practice proven, roller carriages made of modern plastics, durable steel rollers and function-optimized plastic joints. The technologies used are based on Edscha TS product innovations that have been established for many years.
Performance in detail
The new Compact product line is offered both as a classic sliding roof and in a fixed roof version. This makes the Edscha TS - Compact system a flexible, lightweight and above all inexpensive alternative to the box body. The system can be individually adapted to the requirements of the vehicle body. External rollers prevent the introduction of torsion effects into the vehicle body.

Registration as car or truck?
Small trucks can be registered as passenger cars or alternatively as trucks. By registering the vehicle as a truck, the owner usually saves on vehicle tax. However, the entry in the vehicle documents is decisive for the vehicle tax. If the vehicle is registered as a truck in the papers, the vehicle must also be taxed as a truck. The entry in the vehicle documents is also decisive for the insurance.
