Low boot sills and a high opening tailgate are invaluable advantages, especially considering stop and go one-man free to kerbside goods delivery services in small batches. The Edscha TS TailWing satisfies these demands perfectly, allowing quick and convenient opening of the entire rear loading area, even for utility vehicles with sliding roofs.
The driver can easily unlatch the TailWing for rear loading or unloading, either from the tail-lift or from the ground; a powerful system of springs will swing open the tailgate to angles up to 140 degrees with a single movement. The opening angle for gates measuring up to 700 mm is 90 degrees. TailWings up to a maximum height of 1.2 metres are structurally integrated into the Edscha TS sliding top. It remains within the vehicle dimensions even when open, which, together with its flexible system of joints, renders damage to the gate or loading ramp virtually impossible. Flush-mounted extension joints protect the extending gas springs against damage during loading and en route.
Especially the drastically reduced weight of the tailgate, achieved by the use of honeycomb structural composites, improves the functionality and durability of this new TailWing generation even further. The load on the entire mechanical unit comprising end carriage and tailgate is hereby significantly reduced, therefore exhibiting virtually no signs of wear even after extreme stress. The new TailWing also offers optimised opening dynamics. The slightly relocated centre of gravity of the joint bearings renders the dynamic mechanism even less prone to wear whilst improving functionality and durability as well. A new, efficient sealing system was developed for the seals between TailWing, tail-lift and tail frame.
