Special requirements
Edscha TS has been working successfully with and for the railway for many years. For the implementation of the new concept, this was an essential advantage in order to fulfil special requirements in detail. For example, the optimised roof structure leads to more stability and better drainage. Further advantages are offered by the new concept for the end carriage. All this on the basis of the OpenBox system by Edscha TS.
From zero to a hundred
The patent-pending OpenBox Railway roof, which weighs only approx. 300 kg (on a length of 10 m), makes for excellent planning. Every E-wagon can now be opened sideways from below in a short time, safely and comfortably. Due to the bolted and floating suspension of the rails, retrofitting is easy and allows for deformations of up to approx. 60 mm. The roof has been designed according to the criteria for combined traffic according to EN 283 / UIC 592 and has passed the static tests for tunnel encounter traffic. The German Technical Control Board (TÜV) confirms that the classification as an E-wagon is maintained even with a retrofitted sliding roof.
Perfect idea
OpenBox Railway is quick and easy to operate and set up. It looks like an accordion and is attached to the top of the wagon roof with a special fastening. The system is designed as a one-person solution and can be opened and closed easily and without great effort by just one operator. With all its possibilities, OpenBox Railway presents itself as more than just a small revolution. Further future developments will make rail transport fast, safe and also economical tomorrow.
